Navy and Green Apple

It's been a very boring night at my house.  Sean had to work when he got home because someone dropped at ball at work, Sutton is working a double and Reese has been no help, all she does is lay on the back of the couch and snore.

After fixing a health dinner of pizza crescent rolls ;) I decided it was time to look for more jobs.  That lasted all of 15 minuets because that all I do is look for jobs.  Obviously I got a little distracted and changed the layout of my blog (hope you like it).  Then, I got really creative and added my own signature to show up at the end of each post :) cute huh?

Now that my blog is spruced up, time to get creative.  I put together this color palette for a spring wedding.  I love navy and I think the green apple really helps complement it.  I thought the finished product looked very preppy, hence the word preppy, and the fact that I couldn't find anything else to put in that space. haha

Mod Podge Rocks

On the 15th I showed you how you can use Elmer's Glue and food coloring to stain glass jars.  Well I wasn't really impressed with the results, so I decided to go head and buy some Mod Podge (craft glue) and try it again. The results were amazing! See for yourself.

I just eyeballed the amount of Mod Podge.  The amount I put in was enough to coat 2 mason jars

Add 2 drops of blue, 1 drop of green

Then, mix the glue and food coloring until the color is blended
Next, coat the inside by moving the jar.

*Place upside down on a cookie sheet and place in the oven for 20min at 120 degrees.

*This help get all the extra glue out of the jars.  Move jars every 5 mins, so there is not a thick ring of glue when they are done

*After 20 mins, turn the jars right side up and put back in the oven for another 20 mins or until jars are transparent again.

Once they are done, this is what you get.
Enjoy :)

Rustic Touches

Adding rustic elements to any decor makes for a more cozy environment, so why not add rustic touches to wedding decorations.  I love the use of of the mason jar (go figure) and I am absolutely crazy about the flowered belt.

Pretty in Pink

I've never been a huge fan of pink weddings but I think there is a pretty way to incorporate pink without going over board.  My take on a pink wedding. Enjoy :)

DIY: Tinting Mason Jars

Sorry I haven't made a post in awhile.  I had a very stressful weekend :( Reese got hurt on Saturday and I ended up having to take her to the vet, but she is doing much better now.  I was able to execute one crafty idea over the weekend though.

As you can tell from previous posts, I like to reuse mason jars.  I replaced our dry erase marker holder (which was previously a red solo cup) with a cute little mason jar.  Over the weekend I found a post where you can color glass with glue and food coloring, so I decided to give it a try on the mason jar.

Supplies:
* Food Coloring
*Elmer's Glue
*Plastic cup
*Paint brush
*Glass jar

First step is to mix you color by adding food coloring to the glue.  You pour a good amount of glue into the plastic cup and ten add in your colors.  I wanted an aqua color so I mixed 1 drop of green and 3 drops of blue.  Mine turned out a little more green than I wanted but it was still a pretty color.

ooo very blurry, sorry
After your mix your color, use your paint brush to coat the jar.  Let the jar fully dry (very important) than apply another coat.  I liked the transparency after 2 coats, so I didn't add anymore.  Once the jar is completely jar, your done :)  I didn't think it turned out too bad.  I've heard of using Mod Podge and then baking the jar, so I going to try that this weekend.  This technique is supposed to make the jar look like it's stained.  I can't wait to try it.  Until then, this is the results.

Still wet

Final result.

Vineyard Wedding

Once again, I am not engaged but love weddings and I can't held but put ideas together for that special day.  My inspiration for this wedding collage is wine :) I think the idea of having a vineyard wedding is so romantic, and there are so many DIY decorations to do with wine bottles, and corks.

Chalkboard Canisters

A few weeks ago I bought a pack of 4 white canisters in hope to spice them up a bit.  With some left over chalkboard paint and a roll of wavy ribbon, I made some super cute chalkboard canisters.
Before
First, I taped off a large square on the front of each canister.  Before using the chalkboard spray paint I put each canister in a grocery bag to keep the rest of the canister clean.
I used 3 coats on spray paint on each canister
After the paint had dried I removed the grocery bag and the tape
Some of the edges of the paint were uneven some I used a roll of wavy red ribbon to cover up the edges.  This also helped spice the canisters up.

Since I write like a 5 year old, I recruited Sutton for her pretty penmanship.
I love them :)
